Rev. Royce R. Lott, Jr. - CLC, LOM, CPC, SELS
Rev. Royce R. Lott, Jr.—affectionately known as "Brother Royce"—is a pastor, counselor, coach, speaker, and community leader with more than 30 years of ministry experience. Since 2016, he has served as the bi-vocational pastor of First Baptist Church Satartia in Yazoo County, Mississippi, a gateway to the historic Mississippi Delta.
Brother Royce's professional journey began in the culinary arts and hospitality industry. He pursued bachelor-of-science level studies in Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts through a cooperative educational partnership between the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and then prominent New Orleans-based Holmes Corporation. In 1985, he founded His Creations Cheesecake, a specialty cheesecake company that grew into a respected regional brand. Prior to the events of September 11, 2001, his products were distributed across twenty-eight states and were featured in many fine dining establishments and private clubs throughout the South. This unique combination of culinary expertise and communication skills later became the foundation for his distinctive "Storyteller & Chef" concept.
A profound turning point came in 1992 when Brother Royce answered God's call to full-time ministry, focusing on school, court, and community outreach. His masters-of-divinity level theological education pursuit included Mississippi College and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. In addition to his service as a licensed and ordained minister (LOM), he has also earned credentials as a Certified Life Coach (CLC), Certified Pastoral Counselor (CPC), and Social Emotional Learning Specialist (SELS).
Brother Royce received his SELS certification through WhyTry, a nationally recognized organization based in Provo, Utah, whose evidence-based social, emotional, behavioral, and resilience programs have been implemented in more than 25,000 school districts and have impacted millions of individuals nationwide. Brother Royce is a Southern region Why Try Community Partner, providing local support to schools who elect to be trained on and implement Why Try & Resilience for Youth programs. He is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and actively pursues continuing education in behavioral health and counseling resources to better serve individuals, families, and communities.
Throughout his ministry career, Brother Royce has demonstrated a passion for community transformation and servant leadership. He co-founded Praise in the Park, a Christian music festival in Lucedale, Mississippi, which attracted more than 10,000 attendees annually during the sixteen-year existence of the festival. The event featured nationally recognized artists such as Casting Crowns, Matthew West, and many others, creating a significant regional outreach platform for faith and fellowship. Following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, Brother Royce served the same region for seven years as President of the George County chapter of Habitat for Humanity. Under his leadership, more than fifty homes were built for families in need, providing hope and stability during a critical and historical period of recovery.
In 2026, Brother Royce is expanding community service, opening more doors to a safe, compassionate environment where individuals and families can find a listening ear, practical guidance, and biblical encouragement. The resource center, known as The Green Room, has grown to three locations for private and confidential care. Whether working with teenagers, young adults, or couples, he is committed to helping individuals navigate life's challenges and discover renewed purpose, healing, and hope.
Brother Royce and his wife, Elizabeth, have been married for more than thirty-five years. They are blessed with two adult sons and two grandchildren. They reside in Madison County, Mississippi.
